    Couldn't have picked a worse time of year to do this. Should have waited until late August/Early September. Planting grass in Spring is a high likelihood of failure. Planting 1 week before the first week of Summer in direct sun is almost a guaranteed failure. Not saying it won't germinate - it will if you throw water at it, but it won't survive and thrive unless you are on it all summer long. Looking at the rest of your overgrown and neglected lawn, I'd say that's not likely to happen. Sorry, but that's the facts.

    • @Elveshelves
      @Elveshelves 11 днів тому

      Turns out your wrong. I did it at the perfect time. The grass germinated in 7 days and is doing great. Thanks for yer feed back. There will be more updates showing the progress. Oh, fyi I left the old section of lawn un mowed along the edge of the new section so It would be able to withstand all the extra foot traffic it got while working on the new section.

      So far this compress has been good, no issues. I’ve ran a few small craftsman air compressors over the years, I’ve got nothing bad to say about them. This Ridgid is actually replacing a 10+ year old craftsman. I’ve never tried a Metabo compressor but I have a few saws they make and they are impressive. The cheapness of this unit is irrelevant, due to the lifetime service agreement. If it breaks they fix it.

    He probably made it out of PLA, which is poltlactic acid. Its not too strong, but it should get you by. It's better that it's not hollow for 3d printing it has more surface area, which increases layer adhesion. You should have your anonymous friend print a simple handle that the string will glide through. Run the string through the handle before tying on the ring, then when you use it, hold it by the handle with the ring anchored, and you can wrap the string around the handle to pull it tight, avoiding any amount extra stress on the part that keeps breaking. Great video! These kinds of fixes justify the cost of a 3d printer very quickly. All of the pieces he made for you cost him less than $1 in material. It can also be the difference between waiting for a part to be shipped to continue working or spending money on another new one while waiting for the other to get fixed, or checking to see if a design has already been made for the fix you need, or quickly take some measurements and design your own and print it, depending on the printer's speed of course but it can be done by the next day, sometimes even hours or a half hour, depending on the size of print as well.

    Necks move with the climate. You might need to tighten the truss rod a little. Try putting a good straight edge over the frets. Concaved centers will need a tighter rod tension. Convex needs to be loosened. Truss rod tension is used to counter string tension. But seeing that first fret low, shows a bad nut, as you pointed out. The size of the strings also plays a part in string tension and can allow the neck to bend more or less, but this effect should be minimal. A truss rod adjustment should take that out. It is advisable not to move the truss rod more than 1/8 - 1/4 turn at a time, then let it settle in after it sits for 24 hours before making another adjustment. I like to set mine and lightly strike the back of the neck a couple times with my palm. This allows the rod to equalize faster, but most of the off tension is due to climate changes on the wood and takes a little time to adjust properly.

    • @Elveshelves
      @Elveshelves 24 дні тому

      Thanks for the info, I’m taking it all in. I was able to fix most of the issues over the weekend. Turns out I had a few fret’s that were out of adjustment. I took the strings off, set the neck dead nuts straight, then used my fret rocker and found the bad frets. I hit them with a few strokes of my fret file till it was all better. Then I used some “wet” style sand paper to make the frets shine. 1500,2000,2500, then 3000 grit. I didn’t have any buffing compound. I put some mineral oil on the finger board. Then I restrung. I ended up only needing slight neck relief to eliminate the buzz. The guitar plays much better now. I was a bit nervous able messing bit up. I took my time and used the internet as a reference. Turns out it was fun working on it. Like a puzzle that needed solved. Next weekend I’m looking over the Ibanez. Good times.

    Hey that's brave man! Keep going... we all have been there, once. To put it in Mr. Bob Marley words: "You have to start somewhere when you want to get anywhere". When you know how to appreciate the journey learning the guitar, that's huge in my opinion. Especially, since in the beginning it is relatively easy to make huge steps forwards (with time and skills it becomes harder)... so it really can be a treat to see how you progress... Another thing is, nowadays, there are plenty of resources available to get guidance for your playing. To my knowledge, it really helps when you know how to do certain things "right" (right from the start) so you avoid getting used to bad habits or technique which is quite hard to unlearn later. All the best and keep on rockin' Mr. Dirty Mustard!
